I’m Kurt Halverson, and I run the crews at Rockford Family Movers. Ask any household what caught them flat-footed on a move and the answer lands on the same word: packing. The supplies come with the work
Wardrobe cartons for the closets, clean unprinted paper around the glassware, boxes and tape for the rest — not one piece of it is billed on the side. No hardware-store errand for you, no supply line from us. Wade Kohlmeier runs the fragile and heavy work and crates whatever has no place in a run-of-the-mill box. A standard pack takes in:
- Kitchens and pantries, from the stemware right down to the spice rack
- Artwork, mirrors, china, and framed pieces, crated wherever the item demands it
- Wardrobes lifted onto hanging rails so the clothes stay on their hangers
- Books, records, and that built-in no factory carton was ever shaped to hold

Historic built-ins against Roscoe square footage
The older Rockford homes over in Edgewater and Signal Hill are stuffed with built-ins, heirloom glass, and closets no carton was cut to fit. Out in the Roscoe and Rockton subdivisions the challenge turns to raw volume: spare bedrooms, a bonus room, a two-car garage packed to the rafters. Two very different jobs, both handled by one family crew that lays out the plan as we walk the rooms with you.
Box one day, roll out the next
Packing doesn’t have to hold off until move morning. A lot of families set us for a weeknight so the Saturday load-out stays unhurried, and that evening session never adds to the total. With the tape down, local moving handles a cross-metro hop while long-distance moving carries you out of state. Boxes staying put a while? Short-term storage keeps an eye on them till you’re set.
